TX Throttle Body Spacer

Hello RX8 fans. Back again. New Post and hopefully a good discussion.
Was a local junk yard and found a 2005 MT 8, heavily modified with a turbo, NOS and roll cage. Funny thing, the car was wrecked by a drunk driver. Guy was hit on the way home, from a good day at the track, figures. (dumb *** drunk driver).
I noticed the car had a throttle body spacer and okada projects plasma coils. NICE!!!!!!!!!!
The junk yard guy had no CLUE what they were. Purchased all for 75$.
I installed the spacer. Fit perfectly. Started the car, let idle till operating temps, reved a coulple times. shut the car off and did the 20 brake pedal stomp.
Took the car for a test drive.WOW!!!!!!
The car had a nice, crisp responce to it and pull hard through the full RPM band. Will see if any changes in gas mileage.
Talked to a local rotary guru about this mod and why? Will post his coments later.
Want to read the clubs comments first.

Sure it isn't placebo?

I thought the only real use for a throttle body spacer is if you're running nitrous or water/meth injection...

LOL that's what I was thinking,
And that all of a sudden I wasn't the only RX8 with Nitrous and a Turbo .... sure I'm not using the Nitrous ... but its all still installed, well minus the nitrous tank and the BHR TB spacer.

Think I might convert it to a intercooler spray like the DEI setup.

The turbo and manifold were severely damaged in the wreck. I did get the plasma coils. Don't forget
Also, a placebo? It's a spacer, not aspirin.LOL

Butt dyno FTW. I felt a huge difference with my BHR spacer but I think it had more to do with the nitrous nozzle screwed into it.

Considering that the ebay throttle spacer creates turbulence and that the okada coils are hyped up stock coils prone to failure (search here for more okada failures) you just wasted 75$ lol

Most RX-8s will feel a little more peppy after an e-shaft profile reset, which will subside after a few drive cycles.
BTW, it is one thing to be a "rotary guru" and quite another to deal with the RX-8. The Renesis engine and OBD-II have a lot of rotary experts scratching their heads.

Lol. A guy with turbo, nitrous, ebay spacer and okada coils in a "caged" rx8... it's probably an ebay turbo kit too

Hey 200.mph. I would have stripped the kit myself, but lets say it, there was no a lot to salvage. I was hoping the rays bronze rims were not a damaged as they were. On the lighter note, the turbo XS exhaust was in good condition which I got for $200
I don't think it was a ebay turbo kit( bse50), it looked like turblown kit or esmeril racing, but I could be wrong. Never the less, the car is really bad shape to salvage the turbo components.
So, the rotary guy I spoke to about this mod, said that all it does is spin the air or cause turbulance in the intake runners causing better mixing of air and fuel, getting better gas mileage (In theory). This mod is highly debated. He also added that, it might be helpful in the RX8 since half the intake in plastic and smooth, but who knows.
My car is running good with it, i will keep it. As far the plasma coils, I will keep for a rainy day. I have the LS1 coils, which I made myself and a working pretty good.
Again, Guys thanks for all the comments

did you check the rest of the turbo (fmic, bov, etc)? If was was esmeril or turblown, some of those little pieces could be well sought after!

why do I feel like this guy is promoting this spiral intake trash.
taking it off a wrecked car, I'd expect it to look well... used. What I see is a brand new spacer and new bolts.

lol what kind of use were you expecting to see out of it. It bolted on to the TB and intake tube and air passes through it... i wouldn't expect to see any significant signs of wear.

Didn't think about that 200.mph/RX8 soldier. Getting the parts and selling them here. I will consider it next time. Its a little hard doing stuff like that. I Live in El Paso and Work in Dallas. I commute to work, so time and funds are sometimes limited.
Acutually, the bolts are new, purchsed them at a local NUT and BOLT shop. The originals (2 were stripped). And I'm not promoting anything on this site DWANYE (qzeek), funny about your post though, especially coming from a guy that was promoting/selling a replica mazdaspeed body kit a while back. LOL,LOL

You drive your 8 from El Paso to Dallas on a regular basis? Wow, that is like driving to New Orleans from here to go to work

Yes sir, 9krpmrx8, I live in Dallas too. Work in Dallas for 3 weeks straight and come back to El Paso to visit family. Stay in El Paso for about a week. I have not had any issues with my 8 (knock on wood), but with the mileage I've put on her, I think its time for a overhaule. New water pump, resevoir, thermaostat, coolat temp sensor, E sensor, seafaom, new fuel pump, new air in take filter, exhaust (turbo xs) and possible racing beat cat delete, gaues etc.
That's why some of the info I post, are not to promote, just for info and ideas. I love cars and been tinkering with them for a while. From my 88 conquest TSI, 95 Mits evo, 97 mits eclipse, but the RX8 is a class all by itself. I would like to get the clubs ideas and thoughts, because I know there some members here that all they do is sleep, eat, and think rotary, and that info is invaluable. I just want my 8 to last forever, I LOVE this car. So trying some of these mods ( as funny as they may be) might work, it doesn't hurt.
There is a good saying I use allot, here at my work. " I might regreat what I'm about to do, but I don't want to regreat not trying at all"
Thanks to All the Guys, for your input and hard research on this amazing machines, we call the RX8.
