What's the reason that you have to use special rotary engine spark plugs? I understand that the leading spark plug is exposed to hotter air, but the trailing plug should run cooler or doesn't it? So couldn't at least the trailing plug be substituted with a 'common' non resistor spark plug and work with the directhits capacitor?

Also if you could figure out a way to drill the resistor out of the current sparkplugs, you could somehow fabricate your own sparkplugs to be used with the directhits capacitors.

The trailing plugs are so shrouded that they merely clean up the back side of the combustion chamber. You won't get a power gain from messing with these.

Typically the heat range on the leadings is 7 and the trailings is 9. It depends on climate and driving conditions though.

I just read one of the mags' dyno test and write up on the DirectHits system. They measured definite gains, as claimed by the manufacturer. The system and technology, as explained by Lou, seems quite impressive but I am a bit hesitant to toy with the coils and plugs just yet. The way the mag explains it is that the coils are only used as a switching device as opposed to the transformer device that it typically provides. Is that accurate?
