What does the dealer and the Mazda reman plant do for cleaning - do they:
1) clean the coolant channels on reused irons 2) clean the SSV and other ports leading to/from engine (mazdaverx8 I think had to do all that himself on his MAzda reman replacement engine) (3) ... |
Ok that's just teasing, we need more than that. Tell the big boss to go to lunch so you can take more. Better yet, buy him lunch, lol

Blurry photos = fubar
You must need a drink :all_cohol How about a pre-teardown compression test? Maybe doesn't mean much being oiled down though .... |

Looks good so far. They have done a good job of cleaning the housing. What we dont know is things like clearances.
My rebuild had a lot of extras such as steel apex seal, billet studs, extra dowels, porting to exhaust, upgraded side seals and may other upgrades. Its a simple engine and you can spend more money on a bunch of upgrades for little gain. |

So Paul, according to sleep-z (employee at reman plant) they did not always use new rotors or housings, he said it was dependent on condition. What have you seen in this regard? My last reman only lasted 24k or so and had a failed coolant seal, Rob at Pineapple said it looked like it happened during assembly.
|
Contrary to what I've previously read about remans, this one looks pretty skookum.

That policy seems to have changed, maybe about 2 or even more years ago. ALL of their remans have new rotor housings and rotors. Seems to be the case often with flat housings as well.
