Sway bar, Front or Rear?
I just got my 2004 Rx8 2 weeks ago. My friend wants me to put a sway bar in as my first mod, but my question is; should I get one for the front or the rear? I also would like to know what brands would be best?
You guys should know whats best right?

If you just got an RX8, a sway bar should be the last thing to be looking at. There are plenty of actually useful reliability mods that should be investigated first.

First, what do you want (looks, performance, track autocross, bragging rights, comfort)
Second, tell everyone to **** off until you complete step 1 (including me)
Somewhere down the line, my opinion is that sways are to tune, not make major changes. For track days, I did brakes, then springs/shocks, then sways. Sways made the most negative impact on daily driving. They make sure you feel uneven areas, like ramps in and out of businesses and where parking lots come together. But, I needed a handle on body roll at the track to keep from really pissing off the tires. If you sway, make sure you get adjustable ones.
since new, check out the two threads in my sig. Ton of good data.

I dont know, I think sways are a great mod relatively "early on". Yes, they make a negative impact on daily drivability, you feel bumps a lot more, etc. But a good set can REALLY reduce body roll. It is true that unless you've been driving sports cars for a while it's going to take more experience before reducing body roll is a high priority. But when you are ready for performance mods, I think sways are a GREAT way to spend $300 bucks. way cheaper than shocks/springs, and I think far more appropriate as a first mod.
thre is a stickied thread listing all the swaybars availablefor the car, look at that.
also, for the record, you should get both front and rear bars, and both should be adjustable. My understanding is that only front wheel drive cars sometimes you just use a single bar. The whole point is that you can tune them to find a perfect balance of neutral handling, if you only get a front or rear that will never happen. And they really should be adjustable to really dial it in.
have fun...
