I would try mounting a cheap camcorder and a light under the hood to record the throttle and bybass valve operation.
That will tell you if one is slow to react to gear changes.
Or - Connect a long branch vacuum line to the bypass valve hose. Route it inside the car with a boost gauge. Then you could observe the operation of the bypass valve.
Edit: It's probably something simple like a restriction in the hose to the bypass valve actuator.

I don't buy Kool-Aid
I have a artical from a old http://www.banzaimagazine.com/index.htm mag from the UK about the Pee-shoter SC from Blitz P-70 on a MT RX-8. It was made for the non-us market. I'll see if I can find that mag and upload them today.
