Straight Piped - Going to Dealer
Hey guys, after some searching around I couldn't find a solid answer for this so I figured I'd try my luck here.
I have a straight piped '05 8 that I'm taking in to the dealer next Monday to get serviced for the Takata airbag recall as well as a quick tire rotation and balance, since I got this car used back in December and haven't had it done yet.
Will they say anything about the straight piped exhaust? Will they attempt to get me to take it off or something? I'm a tad paranoid, as I know it's not technically legal my car already passed inspection.
Thanks for the advice as usual guys, you're the best.

I've heard about people getting hassled over it under warranty work. I don't think there would be a huge issue in your case. Though I still avoid the dealer like the plague. I still haven't had my airbag recall done solely because of it.

I've avoided this for the longest time and my family just keeps bugging me about it, as it really is dangerous. I don't think my car is covered by any warranties like that anymore anyway. Hopefully they just ignore it.

If you have passed inspection they cant do anything. I'm pretty sure under the Magnuson Moss Act they cant deny you warranty work unless they can prove your modification somehow effects the repair work needed - which in this case the exhaust system has nothing to do with the airbags. Now they could make the case that the exhaust negatively effects the engine somehow, but that doesn't seem to matter in this case - just an fyi.

if you have a light for o2 plugs they'll try to sell you a cat and some sensors with a **** load of book time but just let them know to hold off on those "repairs" and to do just what the recall is covering.
Ask them not to do any further inspections on your vehicle and only the recall work when you hand over the keys as they always have some kind of complimentary 50 point check made to sell you parts and labor. e.g brakes tires ps fluid It'll save you a little time waiting as well.
