I remember mine used to do it. This is when they first coined the term "marbles in a can".
The dealership, not knowing how to diagnose the problem, changed out the heat sheilds, entire catback, cats, intake, motor mounts... and it would throw lean codes all the time.

I am sure you guys there are supposed to be using a min 91 grade gas, so you have a issue there. Don't use the lower grade, some say they have here with no problems....that may be true...issues /problems occur after a few years.

The RENESIS is a high Compression engine that requires the premium gas.

Some say the low grade gas adds to carbon build up.

Yes. look in the DIY section for the TB BY Pass.

I had 20K on mine when my first MIAC(Detonation) showed up. I was using reg gas so I went to mid or prem and the problem went away. Then there was the(one minute) Throttle Body By Pass that was said to fix it. I did it, ran reg again and no MIAC, but it was winter. Summer came and it would come back on days over seventy degrees. I then put plugs, coils, wires in and had compression checked. One rotor was low so the dealer did there own test and said there was no problem with compression. It felt Stronger now and I could run reg again? They did not tell me so but I feel I just got the free de-carbon done. I enjoyed it and wondered why they did not tell me they cleaned it out. After a few thousand miles it was back so I'm on mid or prem no problem.

Run two tanks of at least 91(if not 93) and then tell us how is doing. Seriously, why are you even trying to run 85??????

Have heard of quite a few people that have had to even go up from 87 to at least 91. I really think you should try it before we have to go to other things. It may just cure it. Go as high as you can and wait at least two tanks.
