sohn omp questions

some basic questions...

1) will this require a tune?
2) what maintenance is required? Im assuming just to make sure the resovior always has 2 cycle oil? and to refill when an oil change is done?

thanks. n yes i did research

1) No, will not need a tune. Injects the same amount of oil as no-SOHN, just the oil is cleaner.

2) Just keep the oil supply available to the OMP.

Is there a way of knowing if your SOHN adapter has failed, or if your OMP has failed?

My SOHN adpt. resevior hasn't been drinking any premix? would it be the adapter, or the OMP?

or is it because I'm just not driving as much therefore not much has been consumed? (haven't been driving as much lately.)

I highly doubt it is the adapter, it is likely the oil injectors or clogged lines. If you actual oil metering pump was not working you should get a CEL and it will put your car into limp mode.

Mixing in the tank only will do nothing, you still need a properly operating oil metering system. The Sohn does not affect how the pump, lines, and injectors work.

figure I'd bump this as I have my sohn wired up and sucking down Idemitzu at a pretty decent rate with my omp load table cranked up a "smidge".

I'm getting close to the point that I should order another case of premix. Prior to the sohn I was using Idemitzu and have been keeping my new tank topped off with it.

Has anyone cutover to the Pettit stuff (Protek-R) with a sohn? Don't want this to be a religious debate.... I watched Pettit's video and it was like watching paint dry.

I'm merely weighing my options before going back to the well so to speak.

I'm not interested in Amsoil. I have a bottle of it that I'm currently disposing of as premix... also haven't decided if I'm going to stop premixing completely but I would like to.

I'm running Protek through the Sohn since the beginning of the year. Before that it was Motul something or other. Not sure what to say as far as results.. it's red and it goes in my engine.

I did have a period where it seemed to have stopped drinking, after I had changed the reservoir set up and feed line. I think it must have not primed itself fully, but what fixed it was revving out to redline a couple of times. Drinking like a sailor since then
