Yeah that Protek test is BS. And I had a conversation with a guy from Pettit about it on FB and he stated that it is not standard 2 stroke and that it is specially formulated for them, for rotaries. So I asked him to provide me with the MSDS sheet and he said he would, but that was a month ago and he has gone silent. I'm not surprised though, I knew he wouldn't provide it because then there would be no BS about what it is or what it is not.

Agreed. Even if it is a good 2-stroke, that test doesn't simulate a single one of the conditions within the rotary for injected 2-stroke. It isn't even subjected to sustainted heat, and is burnt within a fraction of a second.

Injected oil spreads/condenses out over the walls of the combustion chamber, protected by boundary layer. The longer it can maintain its lubricating properties at the temperature of the metal, the farther it will go and the more of it will coat the working surfaces. So I don't know, to me that test is not unrepresentative of engine conditions. If it all burned withing a fraction of a second, there would be no point injecting it :D

I am sure it's fine but at $68.00 a gallon, I would want to know that it is not rebranded Walmart brand TCW3 marine 2 stroke. I get JASO FD rated fully synthetic 2 stroke for $23.00 a gallon locally and every once in a while, a case of Idemitsu for $80.00 shipped.

Just finished putting in almost this same setup. I made room for a catch can between the reservoirs. Also since I didn't have access to a machine shop, I cut a bracket out of galvanized steel off my old mailbox and sprayed it black for mounting. Someday I'll have to have a proper aluminum one made, but its solid enough for now.

I don't think you understand the reason behind high rev benefits, the high rev costs, the SOHN benefits, etc...
I can't answer that question because you basically just asked the equivalent of "If I paint my walls white, does that mean that I can grow grass taller than 2 feet?" I have no idea where to begin.

Hi ugabuga,
Now that you have your adapter, consider hitting the easy button on the install with our supporting kit. If your up for painting the back plate the color of your choice, we have three kits on sale at a reduced price right now.

Hey Dan, thanks for the offer but I was thinking of trying to find an oil bottle with a level sensor from a motorbike or something like that. If the kit you offer had that I'd get it in a heartbeat. Not that it is that necessary since the bottle holds a lot of oil as I can see (1qt?) I just always thought when I do this it would be a nice feature to have.
I might change my mind. I will think about it.

Also I haven't researched it but I know some plastics will hold windshield washer fluid fine but will start disintegrating when you put them in contact with oil. Is HDPE compatible with oil?
I remember reading somewhere that people who used windshield washer bottles had that problem.
I was thinking about this and I guess I can just get a level sensor if I want to and install it on one of your bottles if I go that route

Carbon, where do you buy it from? I buy Idemitsu but was thinking of trying the protek-R
By the way I went ahead and bought the kit Dan from Epitroch offered. When I checked today instead of $80 it was $64 because they were leftovers with scuffs on the plate (which I don't care about).
Just to confirm. I can run the same Idemitsu or JASO FD rated oil as I would use for premixing right?
Can't wait for spring so I can put it on!!

That's cool that you get that deal. I just don't see the point of overpaying for what is just re-branded Klotz 2 stroke. I would still like to see the MSDS sheet on it but the guy from Pettit in the RR FB page went silent after I asked him for it. Klotz is decent stuff, just not $15.00 a quart decent.

Ugabuga,
The oil container is 1.5 qt and was made by a firm that specializes in containers for petroleum products.
There won't be any more scratched and scuffed plates available...there were only three due to some experiments early on that went awry. One was actually nearly thrown across the workshop by a polishing wheel...quite a large piece of schrapnel!

I actually just installed my Epitroch kit today and i'm pleased with the way it's put together. The fitment near the washer fluid bottle is very close around the pump but it's got just enough room and it looks good.
Definitely worth picking up!

There are two ways to maximize space for the washer fluid pump:
1) Ensure the washer container mounting points are set as high as possible.
2) slightly twisting the pump clockwise will provide additional clearance for the hose nipple as well.

Does anyone have rough measurements for the backplate that comes in the Epitroch install (or something similar)? I haven't heard back from their email (seems like they are very hit and miss nowadays), and decided to just source the parts myself. The backplate is the only thing left that I have to get together. I'm picking the car up this weekend, so I can't measure it myself, but was wanting to order a small sheet now so I have it ready to cut and ready to install.
Thanks!
Thanks!

This lacks the style of the Epitroch plate, but you can buy an assembly for $100 or a .dxf file to understand size and dimensions for $15.

I don't own it and can't speak to how well it fits or works.

I actually found that after posting this and bought the DXF from him. Really nice guy. I adjusted it in fusion360 to fit my US Plastic tanks instead and uploaded it to sendcutsend. Hoping it comes back without too many fitment issues.
