Sohn OMP adapter install
I am a new member, but I have had my 8 for about two years. Here are some pics of my sohn adapter and reservoirs. It had about 25,000 miles on the reman. motor when I got it and has about 65,000 miles now. Hopefully this will help it live a little longer. I wish that I had installed one the day I got the car. I premixed one tank at 1/2 oz. per gallon to be safe until the air works its way out.

I just took some measurements and cut it out of aluminum. I had a metal shop cut the basic rectangle, but I did the trimming with a jigsaw and drilled the holes.

P/N's of both containers would be nice.
I'd worry about that clear tubing between the oil tank and adapter though. Tygone and Tygone-like tubing (clear soft-rubbery stuff) melts easily. It also might be a golden opportunity to but some kind of filter in the line to prevent any dirt from plugging the oil nozzles.
Overall, nice looking install though!

Yes, everything I used came from usplastic.com. The oil container is a 1.5 quart item #10040 with the 2.25" vented cap item #11489. The washer tank is a .75 quart item # 12067 with the 1 5/8" vented cap item #12068. I used a 1 1/4" spade bit to drill the hole for the washer fluid pump. I installed the same oil reservoir and an OMP adapter on my 1st gen. RX-7 first to try it out, and it works well. Working good on the RX-8 so far, used about 3 oz. during the first half tank of gas with easy driving.

The tubing also came from usplastic. It is Tygothane C-210-A item #56410 and is advertised to be good up to 200 degrees F and says that it is suitable for use as fuel or lubricant lines. I hope it doesn't give out on me. I will let everyone know if I have any problems with it.

I appreciate everyones positive comments. I hope that more people will install this mod since there is an easy place to get reservoirs. I enjoy watching rotaries live long and prosper.

Has anyone tried putting a level sensor in the oil tank? I'm thinking a simple open/closed switch installed at a low level in the tank could be put in parallel with the windshield washer level circuit and thus give a dash warning light.
One danger with that mounting location is the possibility of dumping 1 qt+ of oil onto the exhaust manifold.

I've got in mind to use a sensor off a scooter or motorcycle injection tank. I've got a couple, they are like a rubber plug with electrodes on a stick. Many are about the same length as that bottle is deep, but there are all different sizes. Not sure how to wire up to stock windshield bottle sensor though since you'll have 2 circuits and want having either open trigger the light. Need a better electronics person to figure out how to do that.

Well I got around to installing the Sohn adaptor. Not an rx8 but anyhow.
Note: Before you connect the hose from the oil container to the adaptor, let some of the oil flow through. I did not and the oil would not flow. I pressurized the container a bit and had little bubbles come up before the oil started pumping
