Exclamation The smell of Gas

Hi guys. I have a MT 2004 8 and from time to time I will smell gas. I know its not from my race pipe cuz it smells just like when I spill a little on my had when I fill up, then get in my car and smell gas. This is not fumes from the race pipe. Its way to strong but only last for a short time like a few seconds, then its gone
Anyone have a illistruation of the fuel lines so I can check them? or can point me in the right direction under the hood?
Thanks,
-Gil

Attached is a fuel line illustration.
Under the hood you'll see a fuel line near the master brake cylinder with a red disconnect.
You could start by checking that line for any cracks or feel for any liquid.

Time for me to put another dead fish in your car.

Mu ha ha..............

No really check the filler tube. Generally speaking .... Most cars get holes in the filler neck.

Alright, I guess the jig is up...

I cut the fuel lines just a little bit last time I saw you, just to give me that edge when you try to race me. I wanted to have a nice story to tell the rest of the guys about how I beat Gil.

Thumbs up No more gas smell!

Ok so I fixed it!!!!
My 04 rx8 has the "high power" engine and therefore has 4 yellow injectors on the manifold and 2 red injectors on the center cast iron, able to be seen after removal of the air box, throttle body and black plastic manifold tubes, you might as well pull the oil filler assy too!! In my case the rear red injector was leaking. For about 10 bucks I got the upper and lower insulator (rubber seal) and an O-ring for the top at the local dealer. Clean injectors, replace seals, keep dirt out of fuel rails and engine entry points, carefully position injectors and fuel rails on install. Dont forget how everything goes back together!! Tools 10 & 12 mm wrench & sockets. Have fun!

Hope it is nothing serious, although I am sad because I thought this thread was going to be a discussion about how gasoline smells great and how i love pumping gas because of it
