Small motor/pump noise from under car after shutoff

Today I heard a noise I've not heard before.

After I pulled into my garage and shut the engine off and pulled the key out, I got out and heard a very small motor noise. I immediately started looking for the source and it was not from the engine bay. It sounded like it was coming from underneath the middle to rear of the car. As I was ready to bend over and take a peak, the motor stopped turning and ended with a solenoid/valve like "PSSSH" sound.

Does anyone have any idea what this is? I'm sure its not the air pump as thats in the engine bay and it only comes on during start up. I don't see how it would be the fuel pump as the ignition was off and key pulled out.

BTW the sound lasted for close to 1 minute.

Without more information, I would say it is most likely the radiator fan(s) that continue running after you turn off the ignition. It is normal and they will turn off on their own.

Thanks Zoom... that makes perfect sense based on the timing, location, and sound of it.

Yeah, I don't think the OP is referring to the radiator fan, so I'm going to go with what zoom44 says by default.

It is definitely not the radiator fan. This was no where as loud as the fan nor was it from that location.

Zoom44 can you elaborate on the evap test? After posting my OP, I went out and started the car for a few minutes and shut it off, but no sound that time. Honestly I have never heard (probably just never noticed it) this for the 3 years I've owned this car. It is a fairly soft sound so one would probably never notice it unless you parked in a quiet garage.

Is it normal for the test to have run for close to 1 minute in length? What is involved?

I checked the service manual and found the little bugger.

It is the evap leak detection pump. This car has too many pumps

I should have been more exact and said after each drive cycle. yes its normal for the test to be about that long. If it wasnt- you'd have a cel for a failed test

the first PCM flash update way back when that took us to the original H or K i think was a logic fault that caused a false evap test failure CEL if you operated say the window switches or a button on the fob while shutting the car off. basically doing both at the same time caused the test to stop when it had just started.
