Hard to tell from that pic, there are a lot things it could be in that area. A higher resolution closeup would help. Could be for the injectors, VDI, SSV, ECT, APV motor, purge solenoid valve, etc. etc.

TX Sliced Engine Wires(N.Dallas Area)

Hello everyone, I have an 05 RX8 Manual transmission, almost done putting it back together but cant figure out these damn wires and where they connect to, they come from around the back of the alternator and break off from the main harness. I also have another plug that is unconnected and sits on top of the transmission right behind the oil filter, right by the hook. I have attached a few pics, hopefully all of you experts out there can assist. Thank you

TX Issues starting up

I was trying to start my 05rx8 manual and all I hear is this cranking noise, even when I turn the key off it keeps going, I have to unplug the battery for it to stop. Any ideas?

Don't you already have a thread on this subject? Creating duplicates won't help you.

Why are you trying to start it if you have another thread showing pics of multiple cut wires on the engine harness?

Wow that looks like the injector wires being that many.

That one on the back of the engine is for the Wideband sensor.

I was trying to find out what those wires were for and if they affected the startup. Any ideas? The main harness is intact but the wires that are cut come from behind the alternator and connect to the main harness there, trying to figure out what they plug into

You don't even have the wideband plugged in. Get it figured out and fixed before you try to start it. It takes an hour to pull the uim and find what is missing plugs or wires.

Here is the wiring that I used origionaly posted by ROT8 The color on the exposed wires was really faded when I cut back the tape it was very clear that I had a green and blue wire corssed. Fuel Rail 1 (two injectors) Both leads for this fuel rail come off of the main harness together. Front rotor injector wire color is light-green and red. (Front Primary 1) Front injector Wire lead has White colored tape Rear rotor injector wire color is light-green and black. (Rear Primary 1) Rear injector Wire lead has Tan colored tape. Fuel Rail 2 (four injectors) The two center (the middle) injector wires come off the harness together and split. Front side of the middle split has Yellow colored tape. Rear side of the middle split has Green colored tape. The two end (front and rear) injector wires come off the harness separately and have no colored tape. The front injector wire is Green and Red. (Front Secondary) The front rotor middle injector wire is Black and Blue. (Front Primary 2) The rear rotor middle injector wire is White and Green. (Rear Primary 2) The rear injector wire is Black and Blue. (Rear Secondary)

It sure looks like injector wires to me. No wonder it won't start

Merged in the "Issues starting up" thread, since it's clearly related and people are starting to cross post.

Thanks for the info, so the wideband is just the 02 sensor, where does it connect to, the plug behind the manifold is disconnected, will it prevent the car from starting. I was trying to start it and then see if i got any trouble codes.

Wow, ok it(the wideband o2 sensor) plugs into the plug behind the manifold. If your too lazy to google that then I'm not helping you any further. Secondly i said the cut wires are injectors. Without them you are not getting fuel and it probably wont start without fuel.

If you have any mechanical knowledge. Than you should be able to look for unconnected wires.(especially after the potential sensors have been listed for you already) If you cant do that much then you need to take it to someone to fix it.

All you need to pull the uim and look is a 10mm deep socket, wrench, wobble, and a short extension.

Ok thank you for info im not trying to upset anyone here i really appreciate all the feedback i been getting . Do u think i am probably better off just getting a new wire harness to avoid any other issues. Instead of just replacing the cut wires?

that's a nice diagram 9k, the first time i've seen it.

King, you know you keep saying that, but if you read the post I quoted rot8, and gave you the wiring. That pic just clarifies what I wrote better.

The front and rear yellow injectors wiring is separate. the middle 4 are all tied together and that is what I think your wires are for. I can't quite tell the colors from the pic. but it's 8 wires all tied in together. and with out the red injectors it will not start.

Almost every question has been answered before. I do understand it's hard to look until you are familiar with the terms that are used. If you look up info on the terms we've used and you don't understand it wil help you a bunch.

Also use google like this, but substitute the xxxxxxxxx for what you want to search.
