Getting ready to assemble my motor, but i have a question about the side seal clearance. Above in picture, if you can see it, 'it shows to measure both sides of the seal to the corner seal.

standard clear. .05-.105mm {.0020-.0059in}
max clear. .4mm {.016in}

To me it sounds like the gap will be to large if done this way, but being a side exhaust port, does the clearance need to be this large for the heat/cooling expansion.

Right now my clearance with the seal up against the corner seal it is a large {.003in} close to {.004in} But if it needs to be done as listed above and get cleared on both sides, then i will have some more filing to do.

Any suggestions are much appreciated.

has racing beat porting template.
mazmart water pump/thermo combo.
oil pressure reg. has been upgraded.

if i have to do it, i keep it at 0.015mm,which is tighter than what Mazda recommends

oh, u are talking about that, i will still keep it at a bit tighter than what.mazda recommended

 

ok, got it figured out, the DOC. is just confusing. but my specs are ok.
