Question Should I adjust the clutch pedal?

The car was shifting really rough after having the new clutch put it so I took it in and they adjusted the clutch pedal.

Before: the clutch pedal didnt have much pressure on it. It engaged at the very bottom (fully depressed) and had about and inch and a half to two inches of play at the top.

Now: the clutch pedal has good pressure on it. It now engages at the very top of the pedal and has NO play whatsoever.

If I remember correctly isnt the clutch suppose to have a little play at the top or itll be putting too much pressure on something else??

If I DO have to adjust the pedal which direction do I turn the nut to give the clutch pedal some play? counter-clockwise?

Thanks in advance guys.

very little allowed per the OE spec, only 0.020" - 0.110" play at the actual pedal

Sounds to me like they got it right, it always has to be readjusted if the clutch hydraulics or mechanicals are disaasembled/replaced, including tranny removal only. The release should be at the top of the pedal ...

Doesn't that show 0.2 to 0.59 inches at the pedal itself? With the smaller numbers being at the pushrod ends?

About half an inch of free play at the pedal is typical for most cars. That 1 1/2 to 2 inches was definitely too much.

yeah, the measurment range I noted was at the "pedal pad", I jumped straight to that and missed the pedal play range at the top

so, no play whatsoever is bad, and there should be just a little play?

Do you adjust the pedal with the car on or off? I just adjusted it with the car off. turning the nut gave really inaccurate results but i finally got it and adjusted it to about half an inch of play. After driving for a while it went back to having no play whatsoever? Car on this time??

mine varies also, when i adjusted mine I tightened it up to factory minimum spec. As soon as I tried driving it, i found my clutch to fully disengauge in 1.5 inches. So I readjusted with the car on and found it to be very tight. It works good now, I have disengaugement near the middle of the clutch pedal movement.
