:shocking: Engine light

Just got in my car and noticed the engine light came on, im hoping this is some sort of reminder that i have a rotary engine inside. I only had the car for a year now. (2005 RX-8)

Anybody get this yet? If so what was the problem?

It could be alot of things. and I had my CEL on for ahh I think 2 times ?

but they're both not related to the engine. it could be bad gas cap, it could be pinging, it could be clogged cat, etc.

Just have it check, oh or your can go to auto zone, tell them to pull the DTC code. Thats all.

The Check Engine Light or CEL will come on for a long list of reasons. Some are minor, some are major. Sometimes it will light for a reason and then the condition will correct itself and the light will go off. The only way to tell is to take it to the dealer or connect a computer to the ODB II port.
My suggestion is if the light goes off and you don't feel any problems with the engine performance, don't worry about it too much. Just note what you were doing at the time. If this becomes cronic, then take it to the dealer to get it checked out.
