scratch on headlight

I have a couple scratches on my left headlight. Anyone have any recommendations for how to fix it?

Anyone ever tried something like this? http://www.janvil.com/headlight_restore.htm

Thanks.

ive had good luck with rubbing compound and wax, prolly wont take out anything deep enough you'd catch a fingernail in though

How deep are the scratches? Buy some 2500-3000 grit wetsanding paper and wetsand perpendicular to the scratch to remove it. Then hit the area with Meguiar's PlastX to remove the sanding marks.

Practice this on a beater car first.

Just go to autopia.org and search their forums on wetsanding headlights and taillights. It's pretty easy to do, but you must have the right sandpaper and a light touch.

Check this out -- if it works to get rid of the raised lettering, it should help with scratches too....

yea climacus is right, wet sand lightly with ultra fine sandpaper, then use a fine compound, then a polish, then a wax.

its a lot easier than it sounds. big thing to know: your in NO RUSH, take your time

Or you can use a high speed buffer with compound like a drill with a pad on it.

The scratches are not very deep, so I ended up purchasing these two products:

http://www.autopia-carcare.com/meg-g-12310.html
http://www.autopia-carcare.com/bgi-20214.html

I'll let you know how it goes after they arrive and I've had time.

Good to hear that. Now you can go to town on your cellphones, iPod, scratched DVDs, etc with PlastX. :-)

+1

PlasticX has treated me very well on removing oxidation film and fine scratches.
