Uh. I doubt your engine is bad.

Are you in a cold climate? Oil pan seal may have worn out. Or maybe your engine is just burning the amount of oil it should be!

No the 100k mile warranty does not apply to replaced engines... Mazda would probably go out of business.

I believe the mazda reman engine warranty is 1 year/12k miles. So if it was put in less than a year ago then take it back and complain.

its 12k/1 year for the "repair" parts . you shoudl already know that because you should have made sure to know that when they did the swap.

if you have an oil leak take it back to the dealer that changed the engine. they should take care of it. you should have done that long before posting here.

what makes you think you have an oil leak? lets start there

Emm wrong

The warranty is always go by "whichever is longer"

So while its true the replacment parts from a mazda dealer carries 1yr and 12k miles warranty. If ur engine core warranty still has 2 yrs and 20k, it goes by that.

^ correct.

Just like CA has a cat warranty of 7yrs 70,000 miles and federal has a cat warranty of 8yrs 80,000 miles. They both run at the same time, the redundant CA one runs out 1yr 10,000 miles before the federal one does.

ok this thread is confusing... to clear it up, you dont get an extra 100k on a warranty replaced reman. engine.
But
If your engine is replaced under warranty at say, 40k miles with a reman. engine, you still have up to 100k miles covered.

I always wondered if this was true..i would assume so since some people have had their engine replaced a few times under warranty, but someone correct me if im wrong

Yes but the OP stated they had 7k miles, so the warranty would apply. Since that was said I didn't think I had to say whichever comes first.

Mazda actually doesn't honor their 12k/1 year warranty on engines replaced under warranty. They claim "that only applies to parts purchased over the counter". Mine blew 6k and 3 months after it was replaced and they refuse to honor it. just a heads up.

That's hard to believe, did you press the issue with Mazda? I know guys have gotten more than one engine replaced under warranty for failure.
Did something go wrong with it in the 3 months that they claimed was your fault? Mods/oil etc?

When they replace an engine under the warranty period, that new engine is only warrantied until the end of the warranty period. It does not get extended.

Lets say your warranty end date was 12/23/2011.
You get your engine replaced on 8/12/2011.

That new engine only has a warranty until 12/23/2011.
No longer than that.

When you buy an engine replacement, then you get 12 months.
So lets say your warranty expired on 8/12/2011, and you bought a replacement engine on 12/23/2011. Then the warranty on that engine and their workmanship is good until 12/22/2012.

BC.

While this is unfortunately the case, it is contrary to what their warranty on Mazdausa.com says. If you actually read their replacement parts warranty, there is a section that is entirely extraneous and redundant because of this.

im honestly so sick of my rx8. i wish i could love it but its been nothing but issues. im going to call mazda tomorrow and find out because my local dealer is an ******* and they said the car has no warranty after any recall repair and they are just rude. i hate to say it but after all my issues are fixed im going to sell it and get a miata. hate if you want but this car aint in my budget with all these issues. my oil leak seems to continue and well as rough idle now along with more then normal white foamy stuff in the oil. seems like theres a major problem, i didnt a engine with not even 7k miles to crap out like this. maybe they put a bad motor in??

I wanted to do the same, but get into a 350z again. Unfortunately it looks like that wont be happening. mine crapped out at 6.3k.
