rx7 spark plugs in my rx8??
 

I have been looking in other threads and have not found a deffinite answer. I am trying to find out what other plugs will work in my rx8. I have read a few things about people using FD3S plugs, does anyone now the plug numbers for the trailing and leading plugs to get? I am wanting a colder burning plug if posible.

no reason to get a colder plug. just go to a local parts store and tell them you need a set of plugs for a 93 rx7

LIKE I SAID, I had allready looked through an hours worth of threads you A$$. I thought this was a place where we could talk, and ask or answer questions about our RX8s. NOT A PLACE to be a d!ck to other members. If you don't want people to ask questions then make it a rule!!!!!!!!! I don't care how new or old the member is, we all should get treated the same!!!

By the way, I did find what I was looking for. It's just sad that I had to go outside of the most knowledgeable place for RX8 info to get my definite answer.

NGK-5255 plugs work great.

The 13BREW plugs (and really any 13B made between 1986 and 2000) have too small of a gap to fully optimize the coils and ignition design of the RX-8.

Sure you could use the 13B plugs in a MSP-RE, but you would probably have reduced gas mileage, and will have reduced power.

Unless you are using a Turbo or Supercharged application, use the stock style plugs and go up or down in temp there.

I understand your point, but with my new 7 plugs in my MSP I recently go the best mileage EVER on a tank. So I guess I am torn between your science and my math :)

If your old plugs were in poor shape, any new plug would result in better mileage.

The stock plugs really are shot around 30K miles, and I have seen some (when using crappy ebay type and foam air filters) bad as soon as 10K miles.

well, that would explain it, as i had changed my plugs at 32k, but I had consistently had mileage similar to what I was getting before I changed the plugs.

also there were some big changes between earlier MSP-RE plugs and the later ones, The newer plugs are a simular design to the 13B style plugs and are more efficient.

But a real test would be swapping out your current plugs with a set of NGK RE7CL for the leading and RE9BT for the trailing and see if your mileage goes back down.

In an ideal world you would want about 1000 miles on each set and compare the mileage (and power) after that 1000 miles each.

I've used rx7 plugs ( ngk bur9eq ( hot plug trailing )and ngk bur7eq ( cold plug leading ) ) in my rx8 for over 30k miles, 2 sets and no problems, the car runs great, and they are cheap. 5 mins, $25 for 4 plugs and it runs like a dream. the plugs come out clean.

i will get that set after I am done with these and the set of stockers that I have as well

I did search within RX8club, along with outside sources. Like SMRX8 said, the search option does not work all that well.... I did however find some info on using RX7 plugs, just no specifics. That is why I made the choice to post a new thread asking my question.

well cool then. I actually use the RE7CL re-gapped to .032 in the leading positions on all the 13B and 13BT engines I work on.

See $20 each for a plug that is replaced once a year is hardly an expense, but the triple life of the plug over the BUR7EQ or BUR7EQP is by far worth it.

And the dyno proved extra power justifys the RE7CL all the more in 13B and 13BT applications.

But I saw a sizable drop in mileage when using the BUR7EQP in the leading position on MSP-RE engines with stock coils and timing.

I will try that today, as I have those exact plugs brand new from my fc turbo II.
