rx-8 motor swap

Hey all,

I am thinking since that our motor doesnt hold boost very well, what do u think about putting a 3rd gen rx-7 13BTT motor in instead, i know i will have some customizing to do and a new EMS and other things to get this to run properly...

If you know exactly what i am going to have to do then please go ahead and let me know, i am open to everything, i dont know alot but i have to learn somewhere...

the engine holds boost VERY well, it just hates bad tuning. (which is the cause of many FI issues on the 8)

The seals are safe to 13 PSI boost per Mazda. That's a factory conservative boost also. What you smokin' bro?

motor swap VS the greddy upgrade kit or a esmiril kit. A high end turbo kit will be more cost effective then a rx7 swap. the 7 swap would b sick, BUT u dont wanna half a billion lights on yer dash.

just go FI - if done right you can have a very reliable 300+whp (conservative) in a daily driver without sacrificing the magnificent handling characteristics of this car.

if you are going for a very high hp car and are able to swap in the engine and afford the cost then please do the swap. however an properly done turbo kit on an rx8 seems to also be a satisfying path too.
