RX-8 Engine Compartment Layout

Anyone have any good pics under the hood? From different angles? I'm trying to get an idea of the layout / amount of room in there. I know about the basic engine layout, but I'm curious how much room is left after all the Aux systems (A/C, Wiper Motor, Brake Master, etc.) The one picture I've seen doesn't give a very straight on view, so its hard to see some of the things. I'm trying to figure out just how much room there is on either side of the engine, primarily on the right side (ported side) for a blower. We may be looking at a LOT of work to get this thing to fit. things that make you go hmmm....

i don't know how many pics there are of the engine with all the plastic bits ripped away... ask fritts??? IIRC, he was brash at the Houston show and snapped some pics after snapping the (reattachable) bits off...

This is the only picture I could find, and it isn't a very good angle for trying to figure out space. I circled my only concern. I'm not even certain what the actuator is for, but hopefully it is something that can be relocated a bit. Other than this, after a new intake manifold and new ducting from the throttle body, a roots blower should fit just fine in there. Another concern is that it is going to need to have an extra pully installed, to get the routing correct, otherwise the blower would be pulling the belt off of the water pump. not necessarily a good thing... :-) Unless the blower is put onto its own belt... hmmm.. this may be more appropriate... run the blower off of a second pully added to the alternator... this might work...

Hi CraziFuzzy,

I'm curious about something....are you going to wait for someone to develop something for the RX-8? Or are you going to do something yourself? I'm asking cuz, I'm somewhat interested in the whole SC idea (although I'm not too crazy about the warranty being void). I emailed jackson racing about it and they said they have no plans to develop anything for the RX-8. Have you contacted any other companies?

No, I haven't contacted anyone, I am not sure yet if I will be able to develope my own system. I would like to, but It may end up being a cost issue, I am not sure if I will be able to afford it (well, I'm sure i can afford it, but can i justify the cost?). If it ends up that I cannot build one on my own, I may end up just getting a kit, I'm sure it would be cheaper, just maybe not as much fun.
