Replaced Starer and idle problem =[

Today i finally get a chance to install the upgraded starter!

It works great!!!! the car start right up after 2 cracks (which is really fast compared to the old starter.)

So i drive to my frds house and turn off the engine and start it up again after 5mins...

The first crack is bad.....the car starts real quick but the idle goes to 1000rpm then goes down to 0 and it dies......it took like 1sec for this to happen.

The second try is weird....same fast start up but the idle kinda struggles at 500rpm...and it goes back to 1000rpm in2sec and its normal again.....

So i waited the engine to cool off and try a cold start....it was prefect!

Any idea whats wrong with my8???
My 8 is 2004 AT with 50000km

My low coolant light comes on sometimes on road...but im sure my coolant level is fine since i recently do my maintenance .

So does the low coolant light causes the problem???

When you replaced your starter, did you disconnect the battery? If so, the engine control computer lost power, and all of the things it had learned about how to operate your engine went away. It will re-learn over the next few drive cycles. Your car is fine.

you ALWAYS disconnect the battery when working on Starter, there is live current there and u can short **** easily.

just a note, a perfect health engine will NOT stall even you have no fuel trim yet.

So it sounds like nothing much i can do abt it? Just drive a couple more times to let the computer or the "fuel trim" back to normal??

Thanks again guys!

As to the coolant issue its the sensor going bad. To fix it replace the plastic bottle where you fill the coolant. The sensor is at the bottom of it, and after reading here for a bit its apparent that its a piece of crap sensor.
