I was looking at the inside ofmy stock airbox and noticed that there are two baffles being held in by phillips head screws. It seems to me that these baffles basically cut the intake box into thirds behind the panel filter. Is there any reason for this that anyone knows? And why would they be screwed in instead of molded in? It seems that this basically cuts the air filter into a third of its size directly in front of the intake tube. Anyone seen this/ know what i mean? I wonder if removing them would have any negative/positive effects?

 

I'm not sure which section you're referring to...... can you post pics?

 

I can't quite picture what you're referring to... but I'm guessing it might be the RPM actuated Variable Fresh Air Duct (VFAD) flapper that opens to allow more air in (above 7250rpm). It complements the 6 port tuned intake system.
