so this apst weekend my dad flooded my engine and wont start so he went to mazda to ask what to do and stuff so they tell him and offer to fix it for real cheap and said they'd fix some recall things also while there at it. So today they call and say that they got the okay do give us a completely new engine for one of the recalls. They said if it shoots out white smoke you will get one. I never really noticed if it did or anything and now i got the full agency power catless exhaust on so i still wouldnt notice. i got a 2004 six speed.

I just wanted to know if anyone has gottan a new engine also from a recall and what the deal is??

There is not a recall on the engines. However there are several TSBs related to the engine and replacing the engine is one of the options in those TSBs.

You probably never got the MSP16 did you.

Your dealership is right - White smoke = failure.

Ever since 04 there were 3 recalls to this car. First two recall wasn't that important, its the third one, which is MSP16 thats actually needed for almost all Rx-8. Its not engine recall, its an ECU update. without this, your car will go bye bye sooner than expected.

umm.. You can get smoke after you flood it.

yeaa i know its going to be smoking after it gets fired up again im saying there was some white smoke before....i just talked to the dealer and they said there going to fix the flood by changing the spark plugs and **** then there going to run tests to see if im getting max power out my engine and if not he said they're giving me a new engine
