rebuilds

Hi once more guys.

I am thinking of buying a rx8, but previously wanted a rx7 but changed my mind last minute.

I know a fair bit about rx7s but not rx8's when it comes to reliability and stuff.

Does the rx8 suffer the same rebuild problems as the rx7? i.e. needing one every 40-60k miles.

Other than the rebuild problem and oil consumption is there anything you could advise I should be aware of before buying a rx8? I will probably be buying a very low mileage 06 model in Strato Blue .

Thanks

Search the forum and read some of the many threads on the forum regarding reliability problems and make up your own mind. Owners with problems post to look for assistance, to rant and to bash the car, but keep in mind that those with no problems don't generally post about a lack of problems. So you will get a one-sided view of reliability by reading too much into the negative postings, but that's all you will have to go by unfortunately. Read between the lines in the postings and you should be able to get a feel for potential problems at least.

The car has only been on the market for about 2 years so long-term reliability is still to be determined for the most part, although a few owners on the forum have logged some pretty big numbers already.
