I have search the Tech Garage and found no info on my problem. Has anyone experienced rear end noise when starting from a complete stop? Yes, the rear oil has been changed form the previous oil that came in the RX-8. I noticed it happens more frequently in warmer weather. It makes this short ERRRR sound. I had Mazda look at it and they called Mazda Corp. Mazda sent out someone to review the problem and said that this was normal. Of course the dealer said that he has not seen this problem in any other Rx-8's that have been sold or on the lot. Mazda refuses to do anything further with this. I have been driving for 20 years and I never had heard this noise before. I need to know if there are others that had this problem and what was the outcome before I take further action.

Sorry...I had to....it was the subject line that made me.

 

I've heard a lot of odd noises come from the rotary that haven't come from any piston engines I've owned. Is it loud or faint?

 

when they said it was normal did they tell you what was normal about it? did they explain to you where the noise was from exactly and why it made the noise?

 

Whining noise...had my dif changed....might even need a 3rd diff, as it's starting to whine again....
