Rattling Trays Fix

I have had issues with rattling since I got my 8. The sunglass tray will rattle around 17-18 mph on any road, and the glove box will rattle most of the time. I tried a few things, most often I just left the sungalss tray open, but then it gets in the way. Now there were two separate fixes since the sunglass tray way did not work for the glove box and vise versa. I have some thin rubber strips about 1/8" thick. I trimmed it to a crescent shape and glued it to the nose section of the tray (this would be the section facing you when it is open). This gave a little extra pressure outward, holding it more securely in place. I wouldn't use anything thicker than that since I already need to give it a firm prod to get it to close (but it doesn't rattle at all ;D ). I will post pics when I get my camera working.

Next for the glove box I tried the strips, but I needed about 1/2" so I wasn't about to stack 4+. I went to Lowe's and got rubber stopper ( you know the kind that you put in test tubes or flasks). I believe that I found them in the specialty section of the bolts, near automotive fasteners. About a 1/2" in radius, and about an inch long. I trimmed these down to 3/4" first, then ended up trimming about to 1/2" before being satisfied with the closure (Its' just snug enough you gotta press it closed). And no rattle! Will post pics when possible. Hope this helps you guys as it did me...

And the above post follows every rule you mentioned in your DIY rules post. So what makes it not a DIY?

What does this mean for the DIY Forum area?

No "I want to have a discussion" threads -- NOT A DISCUSSION

No "I have a question" threads. -- THERE IS NO QUESTION

No "I have a DIY request" threads. -- I DID MY OWN PROJECT

No "Help me" threads. -- I DIDN'T ASK FOR HELP

No "I need directions" threads. -- I GAVE ALL THE DIRECTIONS NEEDED

Just cause you are an administrator doesn't mean you should be a bully. I did read your post before posting. Yes I placed it in the correct section.
