Rattles are driving me crazy!
Rattles are driving me crazy!
I love everything about my car except the fact that I have so many rattles that I don't like giving anyone a ride because its embarrasing. I have rattles in both front doors, from the radio area and from the tachometer/speedometer area.
My little brother laughs at me because he has a 06 civic si with more mileage and his car is rattle free. I have taken it to the dealer twice and all they say is that they could not recreate the problem even after I testdrove with the service advisor. I am considering finding them myself but I am afraid of doing more damage than good. Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks in Advance.

theres a rattle diy somewhere, you might want to look for it.
I have a friend who has a G35 and it still rattles like a ****, it all depends on your luck. Some people never got any rattle, it just depends.
and you can laugh about your brother's Civic that no one on earth gives a rat *** about it ever. Girls will turn their heads for Rx8, not Civics.

Get used to it, I have about 2-3 on going ones. The dealer already took my drivers door apart and filled it with foam to no avail. If you have a rattling coming from the drivers door it's probably the corner of the door rubbing on the side of your dash. I stuck my hand in the gap the other day and it went away. Now I just have to figure out how to rid it permanently.
You probably could put some foam there. I would first tape it in place before using any kind of real adhesive.
If the rattles are really driving you nuts and you a technically inclined or you have a mechanic or body shop you trust print out the parts of the DIY that I linked too that talk about your rattles and follow it.

Just make sure whatever you use, doesn't really asorb water.
If its your door panels, and u are placing stuff inside the door panels behind the plastic, you will need to make sure you have water proof whatever, or else you'll get mositure stuck in your panels.
Although if its the inside, where nothing will get wet, then use foam, or stuff from a pillow, or anything. I insulated my other car with stuff from a couch. It was like cotton, but diddn't absorb water, and stoped all rattles.

For only 13K miles on my car, it sure does have a symphony of rattles at different speeds and surfaces. I think the quality of the materials is good, but perhaps they didn't put them together that well or something. I'd hate to see what the car would be like with an even stiffer suspension knocking things apart.
