Hi, just got my 2003' rx-8 today and guess wat? My wife was driving it and then the power steering malfunction light comes on and the steering is heavy and rigid like hell! Tried to off and on a few times after but still the same. Only once did it not appear and steering was normal then whilst driving the light came back on!

Need some help/advice:
- Has anyone else faced this problem before?
- what was the actual problem after yr checking and fix?
- is this related to the infamous steering rack issue or just electronics?

Most likely electronics since it's an electrically actuated power steering system (vs. much more prevalent hydraulic). The rack and pinion system is very reliable, so again most likely electronics.
