Checked the service manual, can't find out the purpose of this part. Although it's illustrated in various places, no name is assigned that I can find. Looks like a resonant chamber, and no hoses connect to it, it's simply stuck off the corrugated rubber intake area. I may have a use for the 30mm hole it occupies so would like to know the reason for it being. BTW, it has N3H3 LOW on it (part number?)

Side note: interestingly there is what appears to be a production date mark on it that has '03 thru '10 indications on it. Maybe that's how long the RENESIS is to live ? Thanks.

Being so far down the intake, I doubt it would be "just for noise control" i.e. expendable. More likely to tune out a resonation in the intake that was farking things up, measurement-wise.

Still wonder what that strange convoluted appendix is doing for the intake charge and at what point is plays its effect, only an RX-8 intake designer propably knows for sure I suppose. No wonder it's so hard to make a decent intake for the 8!
