Part?

New to RX8. I found this hanging in the rear of the car. What is the part and what does it do?
Looks to be some sort of suspension sensor.

Attitude sensor for headlight leveling. There is one front and one rear, figures out how the car is sitting to place the headlight beam cutoff height appropriately.

As long as you don’t ever have to use the headlights because I think they fault into the full down mode.

There’s also some electrical wiring that attached to it. So you might want to disconnect it properly than have it hanging around loose and bare.

There is also a main control unit (control box) for these headlights which computes these signal from the two (front and rear) level sensors attached to suspension.
You could also try and disconnect this control unit box IF you see any issues with headlamp aim, I think IF you disconnect this main control box your headlamp light aim remains in the same position since last headlamp turn on/off..

Should be located behind the passenger Glove Box.
