Smile Pain in the *** rattle in Pass. Door!

Whats up everyone? Since I have own this car I have had a rattle that only seems to come along when it is cold out. Well, since I live in Jersey, I get to hear that "lovely" noise 4-5 mos of the year. Well anyway, the rattle is in the pass. side door. It sounds like styrofoam or something similar. Even when I play music the rattle is there. It sucks. Now I want to know if anyone has any idea of what it might be and how it can be fixed. Dealer tells me they cannot reproduce the noise. But I rather fix it right the first time anyway. Also, if anybody has a link or information on removing the pass. side door panel I will greatly appreciate it, if you shared your 411.

Sorry for the long post

Thanks in advance,

Rich

Thanks for the info True:

BTW nice Avatar. Is that your car in the pic? If so, how do the fogs, parking lights, sidemarker and headlights match up? I like your set-up, could you supply some info on the bulbs you used and where I can purchase them? I would like to do the same exact set-up if you don't mind.?

Thanx again,

Rich

i had the rattle too. took apart the door (very easy IF you know where the clips are). i ended up moving the foam a little bit because it had come undone from the stupid pin that it sits on.

ill see if i can dig up my door diagram for ya ...

cuz now my drivers door is rattling!

I've got a similar rattle on my passenger door too. Mine is from the silve RX8 piece on the door sill. The end is coming apart from the sticky tape and it rattles the door sometimes.

I dynomat the door interior a while back and the sound hasn't gone away. My guess it's the from the door sill.

did you check that silly piece of foam? mine had some staples in it that were rattling between the foam and the door skin. but by the time i got to them, the pin that the foam was on was no longer holding the foam to the skin. really shoddy design imho

looks like RSD and the other guys helped out with the rattle

as for the lights

the clear corner light and inner light (lights closest to center mass) are LED 194s in Hyper white, they don't match perfectly but are close, the LEDs are whiter than the stock HID headlights, I bought them from autolumination and they look great but I've heard the PIAA versions last much longer and have a warranty although they cost much more.

I also have installed Hyper white foglights which are the H11 bulbs but as you can see from the pic I didn't turn those on.

I also have Hyper white front turn signals but they require a load equalizer on the line to combat the ecu induced 'triple blink' that occurs when you do not have incandescent bulbs installed a set wattage.

The LEDs are relatively easy to install from under the hood, although you will probably cut your hand or need a small child to install them

The fogs require a removal of the front bumper, very easy actually

It is only easy the second time you take it off.

Will this happen to everyone, or does it depend on the package you get or something

I noticed a rattle in my driver's door too. Seemed to come along when it get's really cold outside.

I can make the rattle go away by pulling on the side panel of the door. (I do this while I'm driving, rattle goes away instantly when I pull) The rattle comes back right when I let go of the side panel.

Has anybody else tried this? All I know is that I'm about to kill myself if this continues, it's getting really aggravating.

If some of you take your own door panels off to fix the squeak you may also want to tighten the 4 bolts that secure the power window rails to the door liner, as that is the source of the cold weather rattle or knock when you operate your windows. I intend on fixing both noises next Spring.

I've had the car less than 4 months...only 2400 miles and the frickin' thing has this door rattle. Not when it's cold...not when the radio plays...all the time! I have printed out the directions (thanks!), but honestly, I have to break something twice before I learn to do it right (no, I don't work for NASA). I'm gonna try to nail down the location and have the dealership find it.
