p2070 cel?

I took my 04 rx8 6 speed trany into tthe mazda dealer 2 weeks ago because of a cel. They told me that it is a p2070 ssv stuck open. Thet tested the ssv and found that it was working the way it should. They also cycled with IDS. The cel kept going on and off. I dont feel any power lose or any thing diffrent. I did some searching and found that others have had the same problem. So is it more then likely that the problem is the ssv selnoid? The want to test the car but I would have to pay 300 dollars or so. I think i might just have them look at the selnoid.

It could be the solenoid, but it could also be the contact switch that tells the PCM the valve is open/closed.

If you look at the attachment above, you'll notice the actuator attached to a lever that turns the valve (and hits the switch).
If you can easily move that rod and it returns without resistance, then the valve itself isn't stuck.
This is something you can do yourself.
