Angry OMFG!! got dynoed with horrible results

I had the wife take my car to the dyno yesterday and I just got the results back. Pulls we're made on Dyno Dynamics Dynamometer in 3rd gear. Humidity and temp unsure i'm in iraq. It's a load bearing system so the numbers were supposed to be a little low or so I have been told. The car is bone stock except for the K&n drop in filter. I am very upset with the numbers 139.1 HP is freaking horrible. Is there something wrong with my car??

I dont know much about dyno but seems like 3rd is not our 1:1 for dyno gear? I dunno

NO my first name is not Harry!!
2005 MT GT nothing new on the car and judging from the air filter i changed the plugs are prob the orignal factory plugs with 50,000 miles on them. I'm hoping it's the coils and plugs.

then yea i have a good feeling once you change those you will notice a big difference... coils probably the biggest part. I changed mine and noticed a little but mine werent that bad to begin with. Never dyno'd my car though

It could be the dyno or the fact they didn't pull the room fuse or turn off the DSC and TC.

Could have calculated the load wrong or used the wrong weight of the car.

Or dyno is not calibrated correctly for any car.

Hmm, I think it's the car. You see in his power curve he has 3 dips (6500, 7700,8500) and that they're pretty wide? Check out some of the ones on the Dyno results compilation:https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...highlight=Dyno Looks like there's normally 2 dips in the upper rev range and they're usually occur at lower rpm. Which the rpm thing could be the machine being miscalibrated... but why that pesky dip at 8500...

So will pulling the room fuse and disabling DSC/TCS make that much differance? What is this room fuse never heard of it and what gear should i be in 5th? This is very frustrating. I have $7000 worth of parts sitting at home now I'm afraid the motor is going south so i don't want to put them on if the motor is going out, but if it is the coils and plugs will i need to drive very easy untill the computer rests to a new trim. I'm not convinced it's the coils because even with the drops in the upper RPMs it's still rather smooth not jerky. Maybe it's the cat???

i second clogged cat. get a hi flow and see what happens. reset the ecu after getting on the high flow. it could also be a loose connection on your cloil / plug .. never know... even with a room fuse or whatever .. your not looking at that much of a difference. i dyno'd my car with the room fuse in at 190 ish then it only went up a few with it out.

MAgic-

Your car has an issue. it is not the dyno. Those are good plots showing a problem. You have got one of 3 issues and maybe all of them. Bad Coils , Plugged Catalytic Converter and / or you are having Carbon build up issues which are restricting the air flow into the engine and possibly causing seal issues that are lowering your compression.

Hi
My car also had this low power problem. Still does in a way. What i've done so far is this.
Replaced coils.
Replaced plugs.
Replaced plug/coil wires.
Deleted cat.
Car pulls much better up to rev limmiter. Another problem I have is that the car cuts out at revs above 5500rpm after a 40min drive at revs above 4500 rpm on freeway. depress the clutch..bring to idle and release clutch and car drives again. Car doesn't die...just wants to idle for 2 sec. then go again and cuts out above 5500 rpm. What i suspect is the fuel pump. When its hot it makes some funny noise at idle. Can hear it at the back seat. Seeing how your graph look, I gues that the car goes rich becuase of fuel pressure. Have realised that my fuel consumption goes up real quick (can see needle drop a bit) when this cutting out funkiness starts. So i will replace the pump and see what happens then.

Cheers

So i know that completly gutting the cat will throw a code but can the COBB AP turn the CEL off. I dont want any annoying lights in the dash. Also this will just be a temp trial to see if i regain any ponies. If it does give me back the HP I'll look in getting a high flow cat. thanks for the help thus far guys, I also have the mazsport ignition sitting at the house no worries there.

If you buy the AP from MM he turns off all emissions related cels.

youre numbers are starting out really low---so low that a partially plug cat would not really affect that much. ditto for the plugs and coils---at low rpm they usually are not that bad. also youre torque and hp crosses at a higher rpm than it should.
To problem solve start with all that has been mentioned---check cat, replace plugs, coils and wires, reset computer and do the pedal dance. do a de carboning---- then redyno.

good deal guys i'm out of town right now so i will replace all that is currently an issue and see what happens. should be able to get back on the dyno i a mth and i'll repost results. also i'll address each seperate issue 1 at a time reset the ecu datalog and post the findings with each upgrade. Hopefully this will help diagnose other peoples problems in the future. Good idea or do you think useless?

Hope he's not saying there's a "problem" with his car because the torque and horsepower curves aren't crossing at 5252 rpm?

The scales on that dyno graph are different for tq and hp. If the scales were the same, they would cross at the correct point.

The dyno is like the boogeyman. I have had this happen to one of the Vegas 8's last week.
