Oil Pressure sensor

The oil pressure sensor might be in the worst location ever. I am trying to remove it so i can hook up the oil line for the turbo, but it's freaking impossible. I removed the clutch line bracket that was in the way, but it seems like the wrench I need to use is way to big to fit there. Any suggestion helps, thanks.

its NOT 24mm. its 15/16ths! Like many oil switches, that thing is standard, not metric!

I used a deep-well 15/16ths socket and a pair of vise grips to turn it. There is not enough room for a socket wrench to fit on the socket.

I also heard 24 mm deep socket...but it's about the same size as 15/16.

I hope you don't mean the connector when you say "turn the plastic part off". It has a lever that you depress and then pull it off, like the fog lamps. After that, the socket just slips on.

I agree with the deep socket and a pair of vice grips or channel locks. That's what I used. I also found removing the coolant line near the clutch bracket really makes it much easier to get to. Just be prepared for some coolant to drain out.

make sure you use teflon tape on all the threads for that tee when you install it. It will save you having to go back and fix oil leaks later.

I just started my install today, and I want to make sure that I did indeed take off what I think is the oil pressure sensor. Its gold in color, and when off is pretty thick, with a hole in the middle. I'm really hoping this is it, since its the only thing in the area that seems like it could be it. If this is it, neither the 24mm or 15/16in sockets worked to get it off. I tried using a 23mm and socket wrench, and was able to get it off. Whoever is out there, please confirm that I took off the correct thing.

Not sure about the gold color, but here's mine after the T-fitting and hose were installed. It's got a white connector hooked up to it.

Hmmm, I'm not sure if I got the right one or not then, but there didn't seem to be anything else in the area. Did oil spill out when you took it off, because it did for me.

Mine was silver. It has that white electrical connector on the end that you have to take off before you can get a wrench on it.

It must have taken something else off then...great! Should be a fun day tomorrow. 7 hours today, and all I was able to get up to was the oil pressure sensor. Is everything else easier once I get past that?

BTW: I meant to say that no oil came out when I took my sensor out.

I thought the oil switch was the biggest pain in the *** of all of it! The rest is much more gratifying. It will feel like you are really getting somewhere with the rest. It should be easier from here on out. The drain pipe that goes on the turbo is also a pain in the ***. Make sure you put the one bolt for the drain pipe (for the slotted side) in place before you get the turbo installed.

Almost done with the install. It was more of a pain that I thought it would be. The oil pressure sensor wasn't actually too bad, but I have big hands, so a lot of things were really hard to get to. Right now I'm up to the part where I'm hooking the downpipe adapter to the cat, and then I'll put the air pump back on. Should finish up the actual install tonight. Tomorrow I'll work on the gauges, and boost controller, and hopefully I'll receive my interceptor unit on wednesday/thursday. I'm just praying there are no leaks, because I can't wait to drive this puppy. One thing I noticed, is I have been driving without one of the bolts on my engine mount!!! It actually was not there, so I went and ordered one today. The guys at my local dealership are pretty cool, and were excited to hear about my project.
Thanks for all the help so far guys!

I agree the oil pressure sensor and the oil line to the turbo I thought were the hardest. But you've got a whole forum of people here to help with questions, so feel free to ask away. If you have a digital camera you can post a pick of what you took off and we can tell you for sure if that's the oil pressure switch or not.

Yeah, the first thing I took off actually wasn't the o.p.s., but after posting Saturday night, and adrian posting that picture, I was able to identify it pretty easily. But again, thanks everyone, couldn't have got this far without everyone's help, and advice on various threads.
