Oil coolers

I've read from posts in this forum that the AT RX-8 only has one oil cooler whereas the MT has two. I just went through the specs at mazdausa and it says both MT and AT has dual oil coolers.

Auto....

I've actually never seen an auto - what do you get when there is no cooler there?

Is there a screen? Rubber? An empty socket? What?

Both MT and AT have only 1 oil cooler, except in North America where the MT gets 2 oil coolers but the AT still only has 1.

I belive that the 'empty' side in an AT has a transmission cooler, ???

Hey therm8.. can you take a pic of where the piece of plastic is? If that is possible.

But yeah.. no they're not 06 specs. They are 05 specs and it says 2 oil coolers standard on both AT and MT.

I have a 2005 Japanese model, only one oil cooler on the AT for 2005 here... The plastic cover on the other side has ridges in it to make it look like a oil cooler is there. For about $520 you can buy the additional oil cooler for the other side with the lines from Mazdaspeed and then have your dealer install it. I just ordered mine a few days ago since I read about all the AT's that died in AZ and TX last summer and I don't want to go threw the same thing when next summer rolls along here in Okinawa Japan.

where the oil filter screws onto is considered an oil cooler. the oil pan itself is also considered an oil cooler. the car is just loaded with oil coolers.

E-type with the Sport package that includes the larger brakes, 18" wheels, and stiffer suspension. Also has the Grand touring package (but with no sunroof)

According to the spec, the German MT models have two oil coolers too. But I forgot to look when I was last time
in my home country. It was a nice guesture to greet me with a velocity red display inside the Frankfurt Airport.
I felt "home" by all means...

That's not the case - I just heard that in Europe, even the 192 HP (5MT) cars have two oil coolers.

Yes, we do have 2 oil coolers on the 5-MT 192 HP model here.
And we also have the 18" wheels and sport (322mm) front brakes standard.
