Oil Cooler Leak
Oil Cooler Leak
Hi all:
Just got back my 8 tonite from a days worth of work at the local dealer. This past weekend I parked my 8 (for our Miata run) in the garage. When I got home, I found a half dollar size spot of oil in my otherwise clean garage floor.(on the driver's size towards the front of the car) So I bring my 8 down to the local dealer and they take it in right away. The tech says they found the issue, leaking "O" ring on the oil cooler (one on driver's side since I have the auto). They had to keep it overnight to order up and replace the parts. Can't complain about the work or my treatment at the dealer. What does get me is that the service advisor tells me that this is part of a tech bulletin they have received. Had anyone seen this TB yet? I posted up a link to some 8 TB's, but have yet to see this one about the faulty "O" ring on the oil cooler. Anyone else have this problem?

well my mom dropped of the 8 today and they are keeping it there till tomorrow i think. we have a ford focus as a rental car and this thing is a piece of ****. it makes so many noises and handles really weird. it does have decent lowend though, its pretty easy to get the tires to spin from a stop or while going around tight turns.
There is a revised oil cooler hose available, with a different part number. Apparently this is a documented problem that Mazda has already addressed. Search the forum for oil cooler, and you'll probably find the part number. I know I've seen it somewhere around here...
Yup, there is indeed a revised oil cooler hose out there.
New part number is N3H6-14-840C. Note the "C" on the end, that denotes a third generation part (The old one was part number N3H6-14-840B). See my thread on the subject for more details.
Hope this helps.
