Oil change not so bad...

3000 on the OD, so I did my first oil change. Had to buy some ramps so I could get under the machine, but that was the easy part. The filter is a bit of a bear to get to, but finally got it loose after buying a socket-type filter wrench. I seem to remember that the filter was a little easier to get to on my '85 RX-7 with the 12A engine.

Anyway, now that I've done it once, I'm glad I can get the job done without taking my 8 downtown.

A little easier on the ol' Rx-7 is an understatement
The old Rx-7 is the easier to change the filter. If it wasn't on too tight you could spin it off by hand.

yeah - i remember on my two 7's the filter was located on the top-side of the engine in a very easy to get at spot - it was nice. i think car companies are trying to make oil changes trickier so we have to go to them to have them done these days.

Heh, on a 318 V8 Plymouth Duster I had years ago, you had to unscrew the oil filter from below, but then had to twist it round and about like some 3d puzzle to get it out from above. Then reverse the whole procedure to get the new one down in position to tighten it from below.
