oil change, improves shifting feel....?
...this weekend after changing my oil (guessing conventional, first change since
purchased) i noticed my shifting feel has improved dramaticly. I used 5w-20 royal purple and k&n filter. Am i fooling myself? or is this really possible. I wasnt expecting anything to feel different, but noticed this right away and was shocked and very happy.. . im on the third day and still smooth shifts every gear. Unlike before where 3rd going into 4th was the only real smooth shift. Just wanted to know if this has happened to anyone else or am i just experiencing a plecebo type of effect...and if it is even possible, how can an oil change improve the shifting? just interest me....... i couldnt find anything on the search so thought id post...
thank you....

So you performed an oil change on the motor and your having a better feeling shift with the transmission?
Those two items are unrelated but it's possible the motor is working better with good oil. If you are experiencing grinding or other shifting problems it would be tranny related.
Could just be a coincidence but I don't believe in such things.

i wouldnt believe it either, im no machanic but i know the tansmission
and engine oils are unrelated. this is why i was shocked when i noticed this.
the shifting used to kinda stick, like i had to force it into gear a bit, but now it just slides in. no problem. im like 99.9% sure that the shifting improved because of this...... and the engine is running better too...would that improve shifting, a smoother running engine?....

Has it gotten warmer where you are in the last few days? that will have an impact.

He's as bad as Can
Also an oil change only removes about half of the 'dirty' oil, the remaining few quarts are in the oil coolers and lines. So the idea that changing half your oil will improve shifting is false.

Yeah, if the oil changed how fast the car warms up it can help shifting since the car tends to be finicky when its cold.

car does seem to warm up quicker, come to think of it. but the weather hasnt changed much still about 70 during the day. So cold car would be the problem with shifting? i dont understand cause i would experience tough shifting the whole time driving the car all day. im just glad thats gone ,..or do you mean driving the car without a proper warm up causes problems?......
