It's not rocket science. Most folks don't need a DIY to change the oil in their cars. Drain the oil from the pan, replace the filter, fill with oil and you're good to go. Let's not make a mountain out of a molehill.

On the other hand, I have learned two important things by following these oil change threads. Jacking up the car on the driver's side (North American) will drain more dirty oil from the pan than keeping the car level. Also, wrap the base of the filter with old rags and pop a small hole in the top of the old filter before removal. This will encourage the oil in the filter to empty back into the motor instead of all over the motor as you remove it.

You might also wait a while after you've run the motor until it cools off before you try to remove the filter by hand. I'm still nursing a fair sized burn on the back of my right wrist after removing my filter this weekend. I'm still not quite sure what I burned it on!

my guess would be the engine

and from what i under stand jacking one side of the car up helps drain some of the oil out of the oil coolers, and i think that if you have the 6MT, you need to jack both sides up to drain both coolers.
