o2 sensor question

for those who have a testpipe....I was wondering how did you guys take care of the o2 sensor problem........

without the cat wouldn't the o2 sensor(mainly the downstream one, not the one near the header) give a bad reading and fry the engine?? I know they have o2 sensor simulator out there....but can't really find one that's FOR rx8 nor do we know if the simulator is 100% accurate............as far as I know the o2 sensor calculate the amount the oxygen in engine and adjust the amount of gas and stuff inside the engine.....unless I am wrong and the only thing it does is turn off your CEL

if the o2 sensor failed then I would fear that engine may misfire and things.....without the cat I don't know how long the sensor can last...

The exhaust has two o2 sensors, one in the manifold which is the wideband used for the engine to tune itself. And the other is a narrowband after the catalytic converter. The CEL is caused by the second sensor triggering that your cat is dead and has nothing to do with performance.

Not much you can do so far to get rid of the CEL, I have been running it for 400 miles so far and it doesnt bother me that much anymore.
