Nuts and Bolts...
Okay, some thoughts of mine as I was installing my strut bars yesterday. I noticed just how heavy the nuts and bolts were as I was holding them. Replacing these with titanium would, on estimates I've seen, reduce weight anywhere from 50-60%.
For those that are rolling their eyes and saying "it's not worth the expense, give it up" - I completely agree. The cost would be absurd and not worth it. Once met a guy in FL that had spent "thousands" to reduce the weight of his Corvette by ~100lbs and had done it because he "could."
Anyway, what I'm more posing is a hypothetical to just how much weight *could* be removed from the RX-8 by switching all the nuts/bolts/washers/shims/brackets/mounts to Ti? Basically anything misc. that is not unsprung - so basically safe - to be replaced with Ti.
Anybody care to ballpark it?
