Non-HIDs on HID car?

Has anyone put non-HIDs on a car that came with HIDs? I know the wiring is different but are there any negative effects of splicing the wires and using non-HID headlights? I'm just wondering because I'm fixing my second rx8 but this ones HID were smashed and I already have a set of halogens.

Put a set of DDM 55 Watt 5000k in my buddies 05, and it works just fine, the cutoff is still pretty decent, no wire melting, etc. Every once in a while one doesn't fire, but all you have to do is flip the switch again and it's fine.

It'll be fine, plus it looks 20213135153 times better.

Not a problem, post some pics of the cutoff when you get them in.

i put a set of HID's in a non HID car in like 2006, and i used the OE light assemblies, which have the bulb and ballast, and i believe the only difference was the connector, if that. car has been problem free since
