no driver's manual?!
well i just bought my 8 a few wks back and checked the glove compartment(where the manual is supposed to be right?) to find no driver's manual. all i see is warranty information, a mazda case, a little 8 page booklet to tell me the basics on my car. I just assumed that the little booklet was the driver's manual but now im pretty sure its not.
does the rx8 even come with a complete driver's manual or do i have to buy on my own?

Also if you just bought the car you may want to head back up to who you bought it from and ask if they have it somewhere. I know when I bought my 8 the dealer had a couple different car manuals on his desk learning about things. Also if it is a Mazda dealer they may just up and order you one free of charge.

the dealer had a couple different car manuals on his desk
All of which went into a nice zip-up Mazda case.
Which does not actually fit in the glove box. I keep it in the trunk.
I also got an "RX-8 Product Update" DVD with orientation videos showing how to check the oil and warning about flooding if you turn it off cold.
So if it's new, go back for your books and DVD.
If it's used, sign up in the owner's section of mazdausa.com and you can download one. Download one anyway, since it's easier to find information by searching the pdf than by thumbing through the printed manual.

O...I meant that he had one for an RX8, one for a MX5, another for a 6, etc. Looked like he was doing his best to learn about the differences in the cars via the manuals. Was really strange...I would have expected a training class or something. *shrug*

Ah - misread your post.
But when I saw all those manuals on his desk, just for the one car I was buying, I felt like I needed a training class. Very traumatic.
And the package just did not fit in the glove box. It would fit, but on a diagonal so the box was useless for anything else.

Yea...I think that is what that glovebox between the rear seats is for. Only damn place that novel fits. Everyone makes fun of me when I call it the Instruction Manual Box until I whip that damn thing out.

Don't forget to double check you got everything. For instance check the trunk that your tire repair kit is complete. Wheel lock key. Etc., etc...Car dealerships can be pretty shaddy.
