next clutch

next clutch

i'm probably gonna need a clutch soon. i found an exedy stage 1 clutch for $370 but i was also thinking about the pettit racing rally clutch for $300. my 8 is my daily driver but i also do a little bit of weekend autocross. which one would yall suggest?

Stock. Seriously. This isn't a torque monster, fancier clutches basically just make it less driveable without an upside. It also lasts forever if you don't abuse it.

There have been problems with Exedy (not sure if real or knockoffs), so if your usecase is daily with occasional racing, stock is a safe bet.

Dunno about the Pettit one, I'm sure it's a great piece for a purpose that may not be your purpose.

Seconding the stock. Mazda's engineers tuned every system of this car to precisely 10. If you try moving a **** to 11, multiple others fall off their 10-ness and bad things happen. Unless you have a very specific use case where you can afford to drop a few ***** to 0, it's best to keep it all right at 10 as the rotary gods intended.
