Just use what your owners manual states to use. Mazda knows best.

On a serious note...It's your choice...Just do some research...I use 10w-30...Most people in my area do...You should be good as long as you use at least 5w-30...5w-20 is too thin IMO.

5W-20 is great, it's very light so it gives you more Torx.

You may also want to look into premixing with Idemitsu...Obviously you don't have to...But it would be good to do some research on it as well...We all have our own opinions.

For your set up try canola, although pure lard works as well

First of all, which oil you use is not super critical. 5W-20, 5W-30, conventional, synthetic… what's really important is that you check the oil level – and change your oil – REGULARLY. Especially checking your oil level. That said, if in doubt, simply follow the recommendation in your Owner's Manual: non-synthetic 5W-20. Every day, thousands of RX-8's in this country happily go about their business and, except for a tiny handful driven by enthusiasts on forums like this, they all use the same oil: non-synthetic 5W-20.

(Yes, you'll hear heated, passionate arguments here and on other forums debating which oil to use – as if it's actually an issue – along with theories about 5W-20 being "too thin," leading to premature engine replacement. But remember, this is the internet, where conspiracy theories thrive. Theories that, twenty years ago, would be dismissed out of hand. This is where you'll learn that 9/11 was an "inside job," that the Holocaust never happened, that President Obama wasn't born in the US, and that man never landed on the moon. So read all the threads, but remember where you're reading them. Use your head.)

And in the future, please consider using punctuation, as it makes it a lot easier for others to read what you write:

Hi. So I've been reading all the threads on here about what kind of oil I should use in my RX-8, and I'm a tad confused.

I see people using synthetic oil all over the place, and then I see people saying to only use conventional oil. So I'm not sure what I should use. I don't know what specific oils you guys are using; I know a few of you have done all kinds of mods to your 8's. So… I'm confused.

I have a stock 2007 RX-8 Sport 6 MT. No mods or anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
