Newbie questions
Hey guys,
been a while since I last posted here had to put my modding plans on hold due to money and time issues, but now that has changed. I’ve almost paid off my '06 8 and then I won’t feel so bad if I break something.
Anyway, I’ve got a few questions that I was wondering if I could get answered;
Is there a software/hardware tool that I can hook up to a laptop and get real-time data from the engine? If so, is there one that you can recommend to me?
What is a good ecu reader/flasher?
Is there a good guide for performance tuning the 8? I’m looking at doing amateur autocross racing with it.
My goal is to get a laptop that I will have with the car at all times and most likely hooked up and running while I’m racing to record data for me to study, then make changes with it to the ECU if needed. Also a dream of mine is to set up a camera in the car that I can use to record my runs and then play back like a HUD tape so I can figure out how to improve my runs.
Thanks,
TheCube

Personally, I wouldn't bother with the $ to get the electronics set up if its just some weekend auto-xing, but then again Im not the most competitive with that stuff myself.
There is a good DIY on how to build a camera mount that goes in the rear of the car; costs only ~20 to make... search and take a look at that maybe. Im building one myself right now, since it looks like you get a good view of the track and your driving inputs as well
