New rx8 questions

What is a good oil to use???

J/K, Alright now that I have your attention, I have a couple of questions about my 05 MT gt. I have read the new owner faq as well as the first 100$ and anything else I can get my mouse on. As for the questions, i seem to have a dead spot or hesitation right at 7k rpm. It's not jarring but you definitely feel it. I'm guessing its coils/plugs any other suggestions before I start throwing money at it? I love this car drove 4 hours one way to get her. the 4 hours back were by far more enjoyable. And also is there any way of finding out which pcm flash I'm on? the dealer had no idea what I was talking about. Thanks in advance

well reading the newbie facts is a good start. With it breaking up or hesitation it could be the plugs/coils, good place to start. beyond that you would need a Rx8 Wiseman...

as for the dealer not knowing what flash your on, i'd try another dealer, Mine has 3 stickers (1 under the hood, 1 in the driver side front door jam and the other is on the rear of the driver passenger door, dont know why i have 3, 2 would of been great lol) and they have the date as well as the campain info on it as well.

oh and Welcome hehe

Thanks for the info man, I'll try a local dealer. Anyone know of any reputable ones in or around dayton ohio? I know of plenty dealers, not sure about the reputable part. I'll also look for the stickers. That solved, now on to the hesitation ..............

What date and info did you have on there? Just curious... My date is December 2008 or so. I think that was MSP16 territory right?

To the OP, there is always a dead spot around 7,000. The aux ports open at 7,250, and power did from about 7,000 to 7,500 or so. It's just the way they have it set to open... I kind of wondered if you could open them a bit early before the power drop, but I never got an answer.

Welcome to the club! I noticed that when I had a catless mid pipe there was little to no "stall" anywhere in the power band. I now have a stock system again and I just replaced my coils and plugs and it still "stalls" at 7ish.

It's not the best graph, but it shows pretty well the dips. Basically each dip is a different part of the intake system opening up. Kind of like on Honda engines just before VTEC kicks in.

depending on how severe the 'stall' is, you could have carbon built up on your APV. Either take it out and clean it, or give her a couple hard pushes to redline for a temp solution

Thanks for all the info so far
@beodude i have a sticker that says something about mazda authorized service. the numbers are n32b-18881-g 1/3/07 and I have no idea what that means
@rx8soldier it sounds like it's normal its definitely not harsh enough that I would consider something wrong
@8upbad I agree completely

Alright, I've been on a mission ever since my last post to find out what n32b-18881-g is and i'm stumped. Google searches aren't giving anything. It kind of looks like a pcm flash but the tsb numbers I've seen don't match. It can't have been an msp16 because the sticker isn't under the hood. Anyone have any ideas?
