New Engine Replacement for 2004
Just got word that I need a new engine at 81,000+ miles. I was hoping that I would avoid getting the engine replaced but after the second carbon clean, the compression was too low. I have been told many things about how to drive this car. I did not baby it, but also didn't always get a chance to run it hard due to my location. It went 4 years without any problems. I would like to avoid the carbon buildup (which I didn't know about until the problem appeared) and the other problems I'm reading about on this second engine so some advice would be appreciated.
I've already been told to rev it to 4000 rpms before shifting, but was also told that unless I'm driving 80+mph I don't need to use 6th gear. This is how I saved on gas. Why have the gear if you're not going to use it? Any thoughts?
I'm also reading that 5W30 oil is better to use. Any comments?
Does anyone know what is upgraded on the new (rebuilt) engine? Is carbon buildup still a major problem? Does redlining once a day really keep it clean? How about Seafoam? Is it worth using on a regular basis?
Will I need to baby this engine the first few thousand miles like a new car?

5w30 is good. But some use a 40 for better cooling. Oh and you should premix.
Carbon buildup is always a problem. Get that engine hot and redline the engine at wot your blowing out all that carb. Seafoam is good for dd that dont get a chance to run the car hard due to location or being in the city. I wold seafoam about ever 6 months but that did not help me. I still lost my engine.
You will need to bake the engine in. I would wam the car up before moving it and change the oil at 500 miles. Dont wot that bitch yet. Take her rpms up smoth dont stomp on it just yet. Drive her smoth for the first thousand miles.

You will get a new engine under warranty, but you may have to pay a couple hundred bucks for fluids, external gaskets, etc.
Make sure that the dealer does NOT put in Synthetic, Semi-Synthetic, or any type of Synthetic blend oil in your car. During engine break-in, you want to use Conventional oil. 5W20 or 5W30 should be used for the first 500-1000 miles and then you need an oil change.
Do not red line, do not exceed 4k RPM, do not go WOT, do not stop hard, and fluctuate the RPM's as much as possible for the first 1000 miles.
Premix from day 1. Use a good premix such as Idemitsu, Protek-R, Amsoil Saber Pro, etc. This will help prolong the engines life and most have cleaners to help prevent carbon buildup.
After the engine is broken in, remember a red line a day keeps the carbon away. Before you redline, make sure the car has been fully warmed up. Usually takes 5-10 minutes depending on weather.
I have spoon fed you. Do not expect anymore of this treatment. Do not make another thread without searching. If you do, beware of the flame. If you have any questions about any of the things I said, too bad. Search and you will find your answer.

Hey guys I have an idea that might help. Please don't flame me.
You see in my old forum there was a newbie section where newbies could ask the same questions over and over and over etc. Then the site's all knowing car guru's could occasionally drop by and answer our questions. Just my two cent's.

you have to read to learn, start with stickies.
then, learn how to use the search function,
cuz Im sure this forum has like 99.99999995% of the information you need(about this car). the last few percent would be some **** stuff like "can I have sex with my exhaust while the engine is running?" which isn't covered anywhere on the internet. for those special questions, you have to try and find the answers on ur own.
