New engine question
My current engine has almost 80K miles on it and still going strong. However I know someday the apex seals are gonna grind to a hault. If/when that does happen, what is the easiest/cheapest swap to get it running again? I've been to the Calling All Engines thread and those are some pretty high end and rare builds such as a 20B, LS1, 13B turbo, etc. I was looking for something more readily available and won't cost me an arm and a leg. I've read that the engine out of an S2000 is a great swap, but I was curious if there was anything similar.
If there are no easy and cheap swaps, is it worth it to just sell the car with a dead engine? Its worth between $12K and $14K if I sell it privately as is. I've never had to sell a car with a blown engine but I'm sure it'll destroy the value.
Basically is it worth a swap or to sell the car and get something else? I'm not looking for a fire breathing monster, I have my bike for that. My RX8 is my comfy long distance cruiser or if its too cold or wet for the bike to get to school/work.

What's easy for me might be hard for you. The price of the engine can vary greatly depending on how yours failed, what else needs to be replaced along with the engine, etc., etc. You also need to consider how much the labor will cost. Bottom line is you need to do your homework.

Swap and "something that won't cost me an arm and leg" do not belong in the same paragraph.
You think a swap will be far more reliable? think again.
If you want the best of the best reliability, then go get yourself a Civic. Sorry but true, no sports car is designed to last.
